Symptoms usually last for 7 to 9 years and can shift — hot flushes and night sweats may later be replaced by low mood and anxiety. 02It affects more than periodsHormonal changes can also affect heartbeat, bone density, urinary symptoms and bleeding patterns, and many women experience anxiety, loss of confidence, brain fog and other mental health symptoms they don’t always connect to hormones. 03A blood test isn’t always needed — but it helps rule things outMany GPs can confirm perimenopause from symptoms alone, though a blood test for hormone levels may be used between ages 40–45. Our screening also checks thyroid, iron, vitamin and general health markers that cause similar symptoms. Early advice matters — getting clarity early can help reduce the impact of perimenopause on daily life, relationships and work, per NHS guidance. We encourage every patient to also read up independently before and after their appointment: Menopause Matters → NHS: Menopause & Perimenopause → NHS inform Scotland → British Menopause Society → Women’s Health Concern → The ScreeningThe Women’s Health & Perimenopause ScreenOne appointment, one comprehensive blood draw, and a GP consultation to explain what it all means — and what to do next.Women’s Health Screening £465 fully inclusiveIncludes GP time, full examination, phlebotomy, urinalysis and laboratory analysis of over 20 blood markers — with a follow-up consultation to talk through results and, where appropriate, next steps including HRT options.Initial GP consultation & full clinical historyObservations: blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, height & weightPhysical examination: heart, lungs, abdomenVenipuncture (phlebotomy) & urinalysisFollow-up GP consultation to explain results Book this screeningHormone & Menopause ProfileFollicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)Luteinising Hormone (LH)OestradiolMenopause profile markersGeneral Health & Organ FunctionFull Blood CountKidney Function ProfileLiver Function TestThyroid ProfileLipid ProfileHbA1c (blood sugar)Bone, Muscle & InflammationBone Profile (Calcium)Creatinine KinaseC-Reactive Protein (high sensitivity)Uric AcidNutrients & VitaminsIron ProfileFolateMagnesiumVitamin Profile How it worksFrom booking to answers, in two visits 01Book online or by phoneChoose a time that suits you at our Dundee clinic.
